UPM Mini Concert

Last Monday I went to a mini concert at South City Plaza organize by UPM. (by their music club, should be). I went there because my brother toke part in the singing and I need to take photo for him. Well, during my time in UPM, our music club also organizes this so call musical night but the different is this time, it was outside the campus.

The ticket cost me RM 5 per person but my brother paid for me and Christine. The stage decoration was not good (my personal opinion), because all the wording is in Chinese. Too bad, I can’t read Chinese, so I really don’t know what the theme for that event is. The overall quality for all the performers was good, but more credit should be given to the band. They rock!!

Best performance of the night

Overall of the concert is good except the starting part where the MC (I’m not sure they are MC or not) was really boring, there is one guy and gal, like talking to each other, no interaction with the audients at all.

The truth of Carrefour’s Lucky Draw

Recently Carrefour has come out with this special promotion. With the purchase of RM 60 and above, every customer will get a lucky draw ticket (its look like a parking ticket to me). They can use this card to participate in lucky draw. The only thing interesting about it was that the lucky draw was not done manually. It’s already been program in the lucky draw machine. The machine will read the bar code on the lucky draw ticket and start to draw the prize.

Photo
The red light will start moving across the prize list and stop at the winning prize. Remind me of the horse racing machine

The first prize is a 37’ LCD TV, but I personally think this prize doesn’t seem to be available for winning. The highest prize I saw was Mystery Gift (I also got one), guess what is it? A pen….wtf !!

Anyway, we can use the card once a day everyday until bla bla of September….forgot already. I think the code loaded to the machine look like this:-

I got 7 tickets, but only manage to get a PEN !!

Malaysia’s Fear Factor been dooped by Rudy

I bet you all heard of Rudy and JJ, morning crew from Hitz FM. Every 8.45am, they will pull a prank call randomly to anyone from anywhere. Unusual situations are set up to make people angry or shocked. Gotcha !!

Now Rudy had started his own TV show called as DOOP. It is comedy show that pulls prank and makes fun of celebrities and ordinary people around Malaysia. These segments will be similar to the Gotcha radio segments and will usually last around five minutes each before they reveal the prank for what it is to the victim.

Malaysia’s Fear Factor host, Shamser was among the first to be “doop” by Rudy. He was informed that they will be doing the promo for the Fear Factor. So Shamser was ask to stuck his face into a bowl of worms (like the one we see in Fear Factor). Well….he did that…cool. But later on he was ask to drink the milk blended with internal part of chicken, uncooked. He refuses to do it and start to lose his temper. His been dooped !!

Nice job, Rudy!! Hoping that this DOOP show doesn’t end up pulling all those cheapo prank like in what they do in “Hidden Cam” and “Just Kidding”.

The truth of KLG

Additional information about my previous post. KLG is originated from Taiwan and specialized in fried chicken. They have 1/3 of the fried chicken business in Taiwan.
The real meaning for KLG is Happy Chicken.(Kai Lan Gee), pronounced in Mandarin.

This IPOH-based KLG actually belongs to KLG Fried Chicken Holdings Sdn Bhd, a newcomer in the Malaysian fast-food business. It’s a partnership between some Taiwanese and local Dato’ (I don’t know who). Apparently they paid RM1 million for the franchise. Heard that they are now selling the franchises locally for RM100K per outlet. Training and equipment will be provided. Wow…look like they are doing big business here, not simply “ciplak” from KFC.

KFC changed to KLG ?

Since when KFC change name to KLG? Well, actually it was just another restaurant that tries to copy the KFC concept. On my way back to Christine’s hometown, Kuala Kangsar, I saw this fast food restaurant named “KLG”. It’s located between Sungai Siput and Chemor. At first glance, we thought it was KFC. The decoration of the restaurant almost same as KFC, the color, the logo and the wording was totally ‘tiru” from the KFC.

Well, obviously they want to use the KFC’s fame to attract customer. But the funny thing is the menu also same as KFC, only that they replace the branding to KLG. I haven’t try the food there as they still doing the renovation. Going to try it on my next trip to Kuala Kangsar. Actually I saw this restaurant before near Simpang Pulai. Wondering if they are using the franchise system. Hope that they have tom yam chicken.
